Press Release – ATEED
Accomplished strategic expert joins ATEED
Noah Maffitt appointed General Manager Strategy
Noah Maffitt, a highly experienced international e-commerce and digital business growth expert, has been appointed General Manager Strategy at Auckland Tourism, Events & Economic Development (ATEED), Auckland’s economic growth agency.
A US native, Maffitt has held a range of senior positions since moving to Auckland in 2014. He has worked extensively with Auckland start-up companies and venture capital firms.
Prior to that, he was CEO Continuous Commerce at Ogilvy & Mather Auckland, where he had transferred from a position with the global firm in Los Angeles.
Maffitt’s diverse positions in the US included stints working in a number of urban development roles at the United Nations, and in the White House – as a consultant on the President’s Council on Sustainable Development.
ATEED Chief Executive Nick Hill says Maffitt’s appointment completes ATEED’s re-aligned leadership team which was put in place to help the organisation deliver on Council’s clear economic development priorities, including assisting in the transformation of Auckland’s urban south and west.
“Noah has a fantastic track record at establishing, transforming and growing large and small mainly tech sector businesses, both here and in the US.
“He understands the investment capital space, has a unique set of strategic and management skills, and a passion for sustainable development, all of which will help us as we tighten our focus on opportunities to support the growth of quality jobs for all Aucklanders.
“Noah has helped to take a number of New Zealand companies on to the global stage by launching direct-to-consumer businesses in China, the US and UK. He has been an investor, director and executive of a range of start-up companies in the tech sector while holding his other permanent roles.
“Though coming to us from the private sector, Noah has significant experience working with government organisations and understands the imperative we have to deliver value for money for Auckland residents, who fund Council’s investment in our work,” says Nick Hill.
In his new role, Maffitt will oversee ATEED’s work on marketing, communications, strategy and planning, and Maori economic development. He says he has developed a deep passion for Auckland since moving here with his wife and family, and is looking forward to making a difference for Auckland.
“I have promoted the region’s businesses and people, and as a natural connector, I have leveraged my extensive contacts in the tech and venture capital communities to help local companies expand internationally.
“I look forward to working with the ATEED team to drive productivity and increase prosperity across our region.”
