SAS Fox Memorial Premiership – Rd 10

One of the most-anticipated games of 2018 takes place at Walker Park this weekend, with Pt Chevalier taking on Glenora in a top-of-the-table SAS Fox Memorial Premiership clash.

It is the second meeting between the two teams since Glenora’s victory over Pt Chevalier in the 2017 Grand Final, with the Pirates getting the better of the Bears back in Round 1 by way of an 11-10 victory.

That win also handed them the Roope Rooster challenge trophy, which goes back on the line on Saturday at Walker Park.

The match will be streamed live and free on from 2pm, with kick-off at 2.30pm.

Earlier in the afternoon at the same venue, fourth-placed Mt Albert meet Papakura in the livestreamed curtain-raiser (coverage from noon with a 12.20pm kick-off).

The search for a maiden 2018 victory continues for Marist when they head south to play an Otahuhu side who were beaten by Northcote in Round 9, while the Tigers themselves play host to the improving Mangere East Hawks.

Howick, who dropped just outside of the competition’s top four after going down to Pt Chevalier in a thriller last week, are at home to Richmond.

Crown Lift Trucks Sharman Cup – Rd 8

Bay Roskill face arguably their toughest challenge of the year so far, when the ladder-leaders take their undefeated record to Jake Colvin Park to play Te Atatu this Saturday.

The Roosters spent last year up in the first division, and have made a strong start to 2018 by picking up four wins from a possible six, to sit fifth on the Crown Lift Trucks Sharman Cup ladder.

At the same time as that clash is happening, another one at the other end of the table shapes as being just as important, with Papatoetoe and Hibiscus Coast, who sit together at the bottom of the standings, both looking for their first victory of the year.

Elsewhere New Lynn and Waitemata meet in a local derby at Lawson Park, while Franklin look to keep pace with Bay Roskill at the top when they host Manukau.

Farrelly Photos Women’s competitions – Rd 2

A number of Kiwi Ferns hopefuls will meet this Sunday when high-flying Manurewa take on competition newcomers Mt Albert in Round 2 of the Farrelly Photos Women’s Premiership.

Manurewa went through the grading rounds undefeated, but haven’t played in close to a month thanks to a two-week break for the National Women’s Tournament and having the bye last week, while Mt Albert were comfortable winners over Te Atatu last up.

Things don’t get any easier for Te Atatu this week, taking on a representative-laden Otahuhu side who will be hurting from a Round 1 defeat at the hands of Richmond.

In the second tier Pennant competition, Ponsonby play host to opening-week winners Mt Wellington, while across town both Manukau and Mangere East will be shooting for their first win of the competition rounds.
