Press Release – Samoana
St Patrick’s Day – Fundraiser – Saturday 17th March 2018 – Oasis
The Chairman and Board of Samoana Jazz & Arts Festival – American Samoa (SJAFAS) are pleased to announce that 2018 is the BIG Year for us.
This year we mark 5 years as the annual and premiere Jazz Festival of 2Samoas – by celebrating the memory and contribution of Samoan Jazz singer Mavis Rivers (1929-1992) in the 2Samoas in the Pacific – and on the international Jazz stage..
Samoana Festival will host “The Ports of Paradise” – A Tribute to Mavis Rivers Concert series that celebrates the memory of legendary and internationally acclaimed Samoan Jazz singer Mavis River (1929-1992) and tells our contemporary jazz music story to the world. The concert series will kick off in Honolulu Auckland, Wellington and and then weave into the November Samoana Jazz & Arts Festival.
And, for the first time we will open the Samoana Jazz & Arts Festival in Apia and finale in American Samoa ~ the Pacific’s birthplace of Jazz. This year is intended to take the Samoana Jazz & Arts Festival to the international level where we sit as an international Jazz Festival and the premiere JAZZ festival destination in the Pacific Rim region!
