EQUITANA Auckland is in the House

Hundreds turned out in the heart of Auckland today for a glimpse of the EQUITANA Auckland spectacular.

The international event, making its New Zealand debut, was officially launched with a parade up Queen Street and a snippet with the stars at Aotea Square.

The parade was led by the magnificent Pirongia Clydesdales, followed by EquiMana producer and performer Tina Fagen and the inspiring Vicki Wilson with her world champion Road to the Horse mount Kentucky, the entertaining Tui Teka.

EQUITANA Auckland starts on Thursday at the ASB Showgrounds, with four days and three nights of equine entertainment, education, elite competition and more.
World superstars are flying in from across the globe for the event, including former world number one eventer Andrew Nicholson, Germany’s Rio Olympic Games gold medal-winning dressage coach Jonny Hilberath, America’s ‘most trusted horseman’ John Lyons, Aussie showjumping superstar Rod Brown, along with nearly 30 international educators.

In a unique first, the event is introducing the New Zealand Open – Harrison Lane Jumping Grand Prix and ATEED Dressage Freestyle to Music. Some of the best of combinations from both sides of the Tasman are expected in these two title classes.
The two are part of the Friday night entertainment, and both have attracted star-studied fields.

The IRT Way of The Horse is another first for New Zealand and pitches two Kiwis against two Aussies. Each will need to take a horse from wild to willing over just four days.

Saturday night’s EquiMana promises so much and will bring the very best of Aotearoa to the arena for a not-to-be missed show.
With so much to see and do, EQUITANA Auckland is most certainly the place to be this weekend.
