James Shaw resets Green Party on path to Government

“Today I am re-committing to the Green Party’s vision for New Zealand. Over the last few weeks we have spent a lot of time talking about ourselves, not the issues that New Zealanders care about. Today we move forward and re-focus on ending poverty, stopping climate change, and cleaning up our rivers. That is why I entered parliament – to make a real difference. And that is what the Green Party is all about”.

This message of commitment was delivered today in Auckland by Co-leader James Shaw in his ‘Turning the Tide’ speech at a relaunch of the next phase of the Green Party’s 2017 election campaign which included a preview and release of the Party’s opening TV commercial.

James Shaw: “For the next six weeks we will be reminding voters of the core values and priorities of the Green Party and of the green heart we bring to government.

“The Green Party is the only party that has drawn a line in the sand on the priority issues of ending poverty, taking action on climate change and cleaning up our rivers.

“All of our candidates and our entire caucus is committed to these issues. We will continue to speak out about them and champion solutions to what are the great challenges of our time”.

Mr Shaw was joined at the relaunch by fellow Members of Parliament and the Party’s strongest ever line-up of Party list candidates from around New Zealand.

A new caucus leadership team was announced, who will be leading the charge on the Party’s election policy platform:

• Marama Davidson on Poverty
• Julie Anne Genter on Climate Change
• Eugenie Sage on Clean Rivers

James Shaw: “This is a team effort. The Green Party is determined to represent all New Zealanders and we have the talent and experience on our team to do that”.
