Final Call for Young Creative Stars

Aspiring young Kiwi designers and artists have just three weeks to register for the 2017 Brother Design Stars competition to be in with the chance to see their creations at New Zealand Fashion Week.

Online registrations close at 5pm on Friday 7th July, with all physical entries due by 5pm on Friday 14th July.

Brother Design Stars is free to enter and open to all young Kiwis in school years 7 to 13 who love sewing, fashion, craft, art or design.

With an overall theme of ‘Steal the Show,’ entrants are encouraged to create a design that best shows how they are unique and special. The theme runs across both categories; the Brother Design Stars Craft Award (requiring designers to create a headpiece) and the Brother Design Stars Fashion Award (requiring designers to create a ‘ready to wear’ garment or outfit).

To date, hundreds of entries have been received from regions right across New Zealand. Last year, Sophie Parsons from Havelock North was crowned the Supreme Winner live on the runway at New Zealand Fashion Week.

An attractive prize pool is up for grabs, including Brother sewing and craft products, return flights to Auckland, a VIP money-can’t-buy backstage New Zealand Fashion Week experience and accommodation. This year’s Supreme Winner will also win their school a classroom kit-out valued at over $3,000.
