Hit and run driver gives himself up after Dominion Road accident

A person handed himself in to Avondale Police today after reading about the hit and run car v pedestrian collision in Dominion Rd on Saturday.

He is assisting police with their enquiries. No one else is being sought in relation to the incident.

At about 5.50pm tonight, a teenage boy was struck by a motor vehicle while crossing Dominion Road, Mount Eden. Police were quickly on scene. However the vehicle involved did not stop and is still outstanding.

The boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The police Serious Crash Unit carried out a scene examination and gathered evidence as to the cause. Dominion Road was closed between Ewington Avenue and Bellwood Avenue with diversions in place.

Police are calling for any witnesses to this incident who have not yet been spoken to, to please contact Auckland City police on (09) 5712800.
