22-year-old shot dead in Ngaruawahia after drinking with friends

A overnight shooting in Ngaruawahia has resulted in the death of a 22-year-old man.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson of Waikato CIB said the man had been out drinking with some friends. When he returned home, a firearm was discharged causing the fatal injuries.
Witness interviews and a scene examination will take place today so that investigators can try and piece together what happened.
Mr Patterson said this tragedy is a reminder that alcohol and firearms are not a good mix.
