Police arrest teenage driver of car which crashed in Orakei, killing a passenger

Glenn Innes police have this evening arrested a 19 year old Glen Innes man for the fatal motor vehicle crash in which David Sionepulu was killed on Ngapipi Road, Orakei early on Thursday. The 19 year old man was known to Mr Sionepulu and is due to appear in the Auckland District Court on Saturday.

News from NZ Police – February 7
Police, Fire and Ambulance resources are at the scene of a fatal crash in Ngapipi Road, Orakei. A single vehicle was involved. The front seat passenger in the vehicle is confirmed as dead. Police are seeking the driver of the vehicle who was seen running from the scene. Ngapipi Road was closed to all traffic from Tamaki Drive through to Orakei Road.

UPDATE from NZ Police
The passenger who died at the scene of an overnight crash on Orakei’s Ngapipi Rd at about 2.20am was 19 year-old David Sionepulu of Panmure. The driver of the vehicle in which he was the front seat passenger was seen leaving the crash site and is still to be identified and located by Police.
