Charity walker drops phone, gets stuck on rocks at Muriwai, rescued by helicopter

The rescue helicopter yesterday rescued a man who was stuck on the rocks at Muriwai.

The helicopter search and rescue at Muriwai was carried out yesterday afternoon at 4.15pm.

The man picked up off the rocks was Brando Yelavich, who is doing a charity walk down New Zealand.

The funds raised from his walk will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charity.

He was walking along Muriwai when he dropped his GPS down a cliff. He abseiled down to get it and got stuck. He was winched out by the helicopter team and left on the beach.
