Auckland Airport reports record number of international passengers in January

The 720,213 international customs passengers processed at Auckland Airport in January were the most ever processed in a month. January 2013 surpassed January 2012 as the busiest month ever, even though January last year included Chinese New Year (which falls in February in 2013).

International passenger volumes (excluding transit passengers) at Auckland Airport were up 0.1% last month versus January 2012. The growth was driven by Australian routes that continued to perform strongly over the school holiday period with passengers up 6.8% on January 2012.

12.9% Domestic passenger movements increased significantly at Auckland Airport and its affiliates’ airports in January 2013. Domestic passengers were up 12.9% at Auckland, 7.9% at Queenstown, 4.3% at Cairns and 5.7% at Mackay.
