Report from Alastair Thompson
The guests have arrived at the Dotcom Mansion for the launch of Mega – the world’s first encrypted by default completely private global file sharing company.
All the media material for the launch is at the website itself which is now live at mega.co.nz
Guests were treated to canapés and hors d’oeuvres on the terrace at the front before the official launch, in front of a gigantic screen, which was streamed around the world on the anniversary of the police and FBI raid on the very same venue, one year earlier.

The launch begins. Kim Dotcom talks about internet freedom, and privacy. He says Mega has had over 1 million visitors and half a million users on its first day – “not bad for a small kiwi startup”
He says the NZ Government was misled over the illegality of megaupload.
