Man assaulted in Tauranga, wallet stolen

A 25-year-old man was assaulted early this morning as he was walking along the northern end of the Strand in Tauranga.

Police are seeking information about a group of three to five men in relation to the assault which occurred at around 3am.

The victim received a deep cut to his mouth requiring stitches, and had his wallet and its contents stolen.

The 3 to 5 men were believed to be driving around town earlier in the night in a dark-coloured four door sedan.
