News from NZ Police
A man was killed this morning when his vehicle left the road on a bend, crashed through a fence and rolled in a paddock. The crash took place on Tainui Road, Tauhei, Waikato.
The 45 year old driver died at the scene. He was a local Waikato man driving on local rural roads that he regularly used.
Excessive speed was clearly a factor in this crash.
Senior Sergeant Rupert Friend of Huntly Police said “We remind motorists that rural people die on rural roads, and even though they are local they need to treat roads with respect and slow down”
The man’s name will not be released until next of kin have had the opportunity to notify their wider family.
