Kim DotCom turned on the Franklin Road lights last night. The community, as well as the media, turned out to welcome him, though at least one local MP was at pains not to be seen with him.

Radio New Zealand reports that he was surprised by the public’s friendly response. Many of them were photographed with him.
While the Franklin Road crowd numbered just a few hundred, NewsTalk ZB reported that thousands turned out to see the interactive lights on the Telecom Christmas tree in Victoria Park.
