Waitakere Police confirm that the victim of a homicide in Ranui West Auckland on Tuesday died as a result of a gun shot wound.
A post mortem was carried out on the body yesterday. The fatal wound was inflicted to the upper chest. Police have identified the dead man as:
Daniel Fifita Turner – Age 29 years – resident of Ranui
A scene examination will continue at the Afton Place address today as will an area canvas of local residents. Police want anyone who lives in the Afton Place neighbourhood to contact them if they heard or saw any recent suspicious activity.
Waitemata Police Criminal Investigations Manager Detective Inspector Bruce Scott who is leading a large team of investigators says there’s a number of positive leads. Waitakere CIB has launched a homicide enquiry after the suspicious death of a 29 year old male in the West Auckland suburb of Ranui last night.
Police went to an address late in the evening after reports that a man had been taken to Waitakere Hospital with unexplained injuries. He later died as a result of his injuries.
The address has been cordoned off while a scene examination is being carried out. An area canvas is in progress. A post mortem is planned later today.
