Coroner confirms murder and suicide in Manurewa

Statement from NZ Police
The incident in Manurewa on 9 November, involving the deaths of Inayat Kawthar (also known as Inayat Samut) and Ramnitesh Avinash, has been referred to the Coroner.
The Chief Coroner has authorised Police to confirm that the matter is being dealt with as murder/suicide.
However Police will not make any further comment on circumstances leading up to the deaths as they will be subject to inquest
News from NZ Police – November 10
A 24-year-old mother has died from injuries after she was assaulted at home on Great South Road, Manurewa. She was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition.
A man was found a short distance from the scene, near railway lines. He is believed to have been involved in the incident. He was dead when police arrived, and both Police and ambulance staff attempted to revive him without success.
“Police are not at this time looking for anybody else in relation to the incident,” said Detective Inspector Jim Gallagher.
Police urge anyone who may have seen a male Indian in his thirties walking along Great South Road, with a bag in his possession to call Police immediately on 09 261 1300 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Following Police attendance at a murder/suicide at a Manurewa address on the 9th of November, Police have identified the two deceased as:
Inayat Kausar, aged 24 years, mother of Manurewa
Ramintesh Avinesh, aged 27 years, of Blockhouse Bay.
