Art Explore Walks

Take a two hour tour of the BIG little City’s bustling art precinct alongside the highly respected art commentator and journalist TJ McNamara. As you wander the streets of Auckland’s BIG little City, McNamara will educate you on some of the top galleries around town. Meet at OREX Gallery in Khartoum Place, across from the Auckland Art Gallery.

The Portage Ceramic Awards
Venue: The Cloud, Auckland Waterfront
For the first time, New Zealand’s finest ceramic artist’s work will be showcased at the annual Portage Ceramic Awards 2012, held at The Cloud this Art Week. The Awards has long been established as a barometer for identifying our best ceramic artists and thirty eight of the most intriguing works competing for the coveted $15,000 grand prize, will be on display during the week.

BIG little City Art Walks: Street Art Walk
Venue: Guided walk starting in Britomart
Time: Saturday 27th October, 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Discover the underground treasures discreetly hidden between Auckland’s boulevards and back alleys with a tour of our city’s unique and illustrious street art. Starting with Flox’s prominent birds mural in the Britomart Car Park, this tour will bring attention to some of the undiscovered art and murals that are an integral and defining element of the central city’s artistic culture.
