NZ rivers are world class but most of them are central plateau/south island, and most people are in auckland. This fills the gap. If you want to think of it in purely mercenary terms, this will pay off in medals. But it’s just a good and long overdue idea.

There is an abundance of leisure activities but minimal that actually get children “active”. I was dismayed that this project got sidelined before and it would be a shame to have something like this not go ahead!!
