Van and car collide on SH1 at Brenderwyns; passenger killed, others injured

A man has died in a collision between a van and a car on State Highway One at the Brenderwyns.
The south bound van collided with a north bound vehicle. A man who was a passenger in the van was killed.
Other occupants of both the van and the vehicle have suffered moderate injuries and will be taken to the Whangarei hospital.
The road is closed with diversions set up at Waipu in the north and Maungaturoto in the south. Motorists are urged to drive with caution.
