A milk tanker has crashed into a power pole on Roto o Rangi Road in Cambridge and then into a nearby fence, ending up on its side. The driver is trapped in the cab which is severely damaged.

He has also suffered extensive injuries to his legs. Extracting the driver is made difficult by the truck covered with live power lines. However he is nearly free.

Police and emergency services are at the crash.

No other vehicle is involved. The road is now blocked. Police will direct traffic to nearby diversions.

Motorists are urged to stay away from this area if at all possible.
