Woman police officer punched and knocked unconscious by driver of stolen Subaru

At 1040pm last night, a police unit from Henderson Police pursued a fleeing Subaru station wagon which had been reported stolen.
The pursuit lasted for six minutes until the driver of the stolen vehicle pulled to the side of the road near Ranui Railway Station and the four occupants attempted to run away.
The Police staff in the pursuing police unit attempted to stop and arrest the occupants.
The male driver of the stolen vehicle then violently assaulted the female Police officer who was attempting to arrest him, punching her in the face a number of times.
The Police Officer was knocked unconscious by a punch.
The four offenders then ran from the scene through adjacent properties.
Three offenders have now been located by Police, one of whom is believed to be the offender for the assault on the Police Officer. As a result, an 18 year old male will be facing charges of aggravated assault in the Waitakere District Court today.
The Police officer assaulted was admitted to North Shore Hospital for x-rays. She was kept in hospital overnight for observation as a precaution after losing consciousness.
Police are continuing their enquiries to locate the sole missing offender.
