Kim Dotcom granted bail; no longer a flight risk
Report from Scoop News
Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom was today been granted bail and released from prison. The decision was made in North Shore District Court, 33 days after his arrest at his rented Dotcom mansion in Coatesville. He had previously been considered a flight risk but today new information has led to the change.
He was arrested in January as part of worldwide action, led by the FBI, against his MegaUpload website. All four of those arrested have now been bailed pending extradition hearings.
Dotcom had previously announced plans to appeal after being refused bail.

US government seeks 20 years … Ironically he could now go and murder someone in NZ and would face way less time in jail + stay in NZ. It’s a total farce at the expense of New Zealand tax payers … designed to scare megaupload, and hence 1000s of others, into shutting down file sharing services around the world, cos there is no way in hell he was ever going to be extradited based on the fact that for extradition both countries must have the same law with similar penalties which is clearly not the case!
