Whangarei Police have arrested two men in relation to a series of aggravated robberies in Whangarei and Auckland.

Early yesterday morning, Police executed search warrants at five addresses around the Whangarei district.

As a result of the search warrants two men, aged 24 and 31 years, were arrested and charged with aggravated robbery in relation to a home invasion on Maunu Road on September 29, the robbery of the Onerahi Tavern on October 6, and a home invasion in the North Shore suburb of Pinehill on October 13.

One of the offenders has been charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm.

The two men are also jointly charged with theft and arson of a motor vehicle. Police believe that this vehicle was used in the robbery of the Onerahi Tavern.

The men will be appearing in the Whangärei District Court today.
