39-year-old Mt Roskill woman charged with Friday morning murder

Auckland Police investigating the death of John LI’A in Nash St, Mt Roskill, in the early hours of Friday morning, have late today arrested a 39 year old Mt Roskill woman and charged her with murder.

She will appear in the Auckland District Court on Monday.

She will appear alongside three men, charged with assault, who appeared in Court on Saturday and who were remanded in custody until tomorrow.

Police investigating the death of 23 year-old New Lynn man John Lia, who died at the roadside in Hillsborough after an altercation in the early hours of this morning, say he suffered some stab wounds as well as injuries from a physical assault.

A post-mortem examination has been completed but Police are unable to comment on the cause of death.

Mr Lia died on Nash Street but had earlier attended a small party at a property in Revel Ave, a short distance away from where he died. All the people who were at the party have been assisting Police with inquiries today.

Police were called to the scene at 1.30am. A forensic scene examination is underway in the area of interest and the Specialist Search Group is also combing the area for clues that might assist investigators.

An earlier police announcement said a homicide inquiry had been launched after the death.

    They need to pay the price, no matter their cultural backround. John died from the cause of their hands so they must face any penalties they deserve.
